What is NeptuneCon?

NeptuneCon is a 4 day, invitational gaming event in Virginia Beach, VA. Organized and run by the members of the Tidewater Area Gaming Society (TAGS), this is the event in southeast Virginia to come and enjoy tabletop board and card games!

NeptuneCon 2020 Was Cancelled, Now What?

NeptuneCon 2021 has already been booked with the hotel venue. Any registrations from NeptuneCon 2020 automatically carry over to 2021. Contact Us if you have questions about your registration or wish to cancel. New registrations for 2021 will open late summer/early fall 2020. Please check back then.

Why is NeptuneCon Invitational?

Our first NeptuneCon will be held in 2020. In order to manage logistics and ensure our small team can do a good job, we want to keep tabs on the size a scale of the event. This is something we will revisit and likely take input from the attendees on in the future.

How Do I Get an Invite?

There are several ways…. Any registered attendee can invite anyone else. If you’ve ever been to a TAGS Game Day, you are also automatically invited. Furthermore, because this is our first year, we are partnering with several local game stores to get the word out. If you’ve seen a NeptuneCon banner at a local game store, you’re invited!

When you register, just put the name of the person or place you’ve seen a sign in the “Invitation Source” field. We’ll take it from there.

Registration closes Monday March 18th, 2021.

What is the Gaming Space Like ?

NeptuneCon will be a mostly open-gaming event. There are two large gaming halls with long covered tables. There will be storage tables and shelves in the halls for you to store your games. The halls we be locked overnight so that you don’t have to haul your games back and forth to your room. Name tags will be provided to label your game shelf.

Will There Be Events at NeptuneCon?

We hope to have some organized play events, but need the help of those interested to know what you want to play and to help out. Join the NeptuneCon Facebook group and post there to discuss and find out more.

What Food Will Be Available?

There will be a ConSuite at the event (a designated hotel room near the gaming hall) which will have complimentary snacks and drinks. The hotel also has a full service restaurant and has offered to provide a box lunch option for our attendees.

In addition, there are dozens of restaurants nearby and along the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Check out this list on Yelp for some ideas.

Who Needs a Ticket to Attend?

Any adult or child that will be playing games in the gaming hall will need a ticket. If you have kids or a spouse that will be traveling/staying with you, they only need a ticket if they want to game.

Will There Be Vendors?

Short answer… maybe. Our original plan was not to have a vendors in our first year, but some local retailers have shown interest. We’re working with to see if we can make it happen.

Will There Be a Flea Market or Auction?

Not this year, but this is something we hope to add in future years. Post in the NeptuneCon Facebook group if this is something you are interested in.

Can I Cancel My Registration for a Refund?

You can cancel your registration for a full refund until Feb 15, 2020. After that date, no refunds will be issues.

When is the Gaming Hall Open?

Thursday: 8:30am – 2am
Friday: 7am – 2am
Saturday: 7am – 2am
Sunday: 7am – 6pm
